1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

i picked this up in march 2003 here in fairbanks. relatively low mileage... but have some rust issues in the quarter panels and the fenders... random spots on the door skins as well. those are all pretty cheap things to fix though if doing yourself... which i most likely will be doing.

the V8 runs pretty good... had all the original hoses and most original accessories so some of those needed replacing (starter / alternator / etc.) ... right now the timing is off a bit... started back-firing a bunch the last day of the summer i drove it. probably could use a rebuild... but a brand new crate motor isn't *that* much more expensive and would be better... and easier to do vs. rebuild as well.

i'd also like to get a nice built-up 700R4 transmission vs. the TH350. with the overdrive i would probably get better mileage than my 2.0L (albeit turbo) Subaru... it's already pretty close on a dollar-per-range scale.

i have been working a bit on this lately. ordered $1000 worth of various engine bits to put on it. intake / HEI conversion / demon carb / valve covers / air intake ... and a ton of various little bits and pieces that go along with those things. i have been doing pseudo regualr updates on my blog... which i might at some point condense from their ramblings into something a bit more sensical. and with pictures... as i took a bunch as i went along. *really close* to being able to start it up. then its timing adjustments and carb tuning... then ready to go! well... and i was going to give a nice shake can paint job soon.
